Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a popular public speech writer. Feminist Frequency is a channel that hosts videos, commentary and analyses of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic that has received accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. She is the creator and executive director of Feminist Frequency an educational, non-profit website that explores representations of women in popular media narratives. As well as working to expose the issues surrounding the harassment and targeted assaults on women and others of minority groups in the online world, she is committed to breaking the stereotypes prevalent in pop culture. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social theological, philosophical and political thought. In addition to being a well-known public speaker she has made speeches at the TEDxWomen The XOXO Conference as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Passionate about issues of gender and feminism since at an early age, she created her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while she was still at university. The ambitious lady planned to start a web-based series on the gender roles in video games. She was the subject of a harassment online campaign. The woman was not stopped by the assault, in fact it only reinforced her determination to be feminist and media critic. Many awards have been presented to her for all the contributions that she made. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic who has won many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational non-profit that examines how women are represented in popular culture narratives.
